Kermit L Harrison II
In every day language, people often use the word "philosophy" as an umbrella to cover various modes of description and explanation. When I use the term here, it refers to a method by which a person can articulate her or his world. The philosophy behind my photography is just that. My camera is the instrument that allows me to explain the world in a way that is not possible with other mediums. Strictly speaking, a photograph is just a collection of lights and shadows. What a photograph conveys however, is something much more phenomenal. A well captured photo has almost infinite possibilities. It can represent everything from a fixed existential moment to a dynamic relationship between people, places, things, ideas, or any combination between. One of the beautiful things about photography is that part of the aesthetic import of a photo is the shared value that connects the photographer, the medium and the viewer. My interest in photography started with my father over twenty years ago. He used to take hundreds of pictures of us, and I am forever grateful for the family history, told by pictures that he left behind. Over the last seventeen years I have endeavored to create a running photographic history of the world as I encounter it. I am very fortunate and blessed to have the opportunity to contribute to the lives of others, as well as my own, by telling stories and capturing memories with my photos. Thanks for stopping by! . . .
